Volunteer:
STEM needs volunteers for many of its activities. Contact STEM if you would consider participating in a short-term project or making a longer commitment. Volunteers are needed in the following areas:
Encouraging membership:
STEM needs people from all regions of the province who could host coffee mornings in their community and encourage people to join and support STEM activities.Giving talks:
STEM sometimes receives requests for speakers. If you enjoy public speaking, then this is the volunteer opportunity for you. Individuals are needed who can share their experiences so that the public understands the importance of bone marrow/stem cell transplants in the treatment of blood cancers.Website maintenance:
STEM needs to keep its website current and is always on the lookout for people with expertise in this area who could provide a couple of hours a month for this activity.Staffing displays:
The STEM Display Board is sent around the province for use at a variety of public events. Individuals are needed who can spare a couple of hours to set up and dismantle the display and be available to answer questions and provide informational material.Professional services:
As with any non-profit organization, STEM has a great need for volunteers with specific professional backgrounds to provide general advice to the Board. STEM would like to hear from any accountants, lawyers or physicians who would be interested in joining the STEM Board of Directors.
